How to Install a Plaster Ring and Wall Plate in Drywall

This tutorial video shows you how to install a wall plate into drywall.

To accomplish this, you need the following items:

• Plaster ring (also called a P-ring or mud ring)
• Wall plate
• Drop cloth or sheet of paper
• Drywall saw
• Pair of pliers
• Screwdriver (Our wall plates require a Philips head)

We'll show you, step by step, how to position your wall plate, saw through the drywall, install the plaster ring, and mount the wall plate.

Whenever you're installing a wall plate for your home or office, make sure that you terminate all your jacks BEFORE inserting them into your wall plate or mounting the plate to the wall!
